Madivala schools - details • 13 primary schools, 3,404 children (all Kannada) • 10 Anganwadis (Wilson Garden circle), 248 children • Primary Schools: • Average of 210 pupils , 8 teachers, 7 classrooms, 1,400 books • 8 have computers, 7 have electricity, 10 have toilets • 7 currently ‘fed’ by AkshayaPatra (all Kannada, 2,145 pupils) • Anganwadis: • Average of 25 children • Out of six for which data: 2 have blackboards, 3 have toilets, 4 have proper floor, 5 serve meals

Madivala Cluster – comments/further work • MB and DaD can go into new EIs • AP schools, look at other non-govt schools • Other six EIs can be the control • Look at population, all EIs in cluster • Call CRY • PHCs – SPJ has data (David has contact) • Perhaps we don’t need to work in Anganwadis • Must decide number of children (2,000 approx) • Age appropriate health and class appropriate education • Carry out by team, rather than intervention

  6. Measuring success A single composite (weighted) metric that summarises the combined impact of all the interventions
