  1. Faith/Faithfulness - pistis 2 possible definitions in Galatians 5:22 • Faith – The trait of trusting someone • Faithfulness – The trait of being trustworthy

God’s Faithful Character • He always speaks the truth. • (2 Corinthians 1:18) But as surely as God is faithful, our message to you is not "Yes" and "No." • He always does what is right. • (Deuteronomy 32:4) He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he. • He always keeps His promises. • (Deuteronomy 7:9) Know therefore that the LORD your God is God; he is the faithful God, keeping his covenant of love to a thousand generations...

God’s Faithful Actions • He is faithful to His promise to save us. • (2 Timothy 2:13) …if we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself. • He is faithful to us in times of trial. • (1 Peter 4:19) So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good. • He is faithful to help us in temptation. • (1 Corinthians 10:13) … And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. • He is faithful to forgive us. • (1 John 1:9) If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

  4. Money: God’s “trial run” for faithfulness • (Luke 16:10-13) "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much… {11} So if you have not been trustworthy in handling worldly wealth (=$), who will trust you with true riches (= eternal ministry)? {13} … You cannot serve both God and Money."

  5. A Faithful Woman • (1 Timothy 5:9-10) No widow may be put on the list of widows (= for $ support) unless she is over sixty, has been faithful to her husband, {10} and is well known for her good deeds, such as bringing up children, showing hospitality, washing the feet of the saints, helping those in trouble and devoting herself to all kinds of good deeds.

  6. Faithful in my Family • Can my spouse rely on me to be morally faithful? Can he/she trust me? • Am I diligent to provide a living, maintain the house, prepare food, clean? • Can I be counted on to “be there” relationally for my family?

  7. Faithfulness to anyone and everyone • (Nehemiah 7:2) I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man… • (Luke 12:42) The Lord answered, "Who then is the faithful and wise manager, whom the master puts in charge of his servants to give them their food allowance at the proper time? • (Ephesians 6:21) Tychicus, the dear brother and faithful servant in the Lord, will tell you everything.

  8. Faithfulness in daily life • Will I follow through on what I said I would do? Will I be there if I said I would? • Can I be in charge of something and get it done? • Will I keep a commitment to someone if something more fun comes along? • Do I frequently “drop out” of things? • Do I communicate where I am and when I’ll be back? • Can people believe me? Do I exaggerate? • Do I accept responsibility if I blew it? • Do I return phone calls? Am I on time – and call if not? • Am I consistent spiritually (church, prayer, Bible)? • At work, am I faithful with my time, how I treat people, things, handle money? Do I shirk responsibility?
