  3. Pre-Award Services Pre-Award Centers: • Discovery Park (DP) • College of Engineering (COE) • College of Science, College of Pharmacy, and College of Health and Human Sciences (COS/COP/CHHS) • College of Agriculture and College of Veterinary Sciences (AgVet) • Central (CPC)

  4. Process Flow • PI contacts appropriate Pre-Award Center • Proposal preparation involving all necessary parties • Proposal is routed for investigator and academic approvals • Proposal receives institutional review and endorsement by SPS • Proposal is submitted to the sponsor

Roles and Responsibilities Pre-Award Center • Review sponsor guidelines and identify key issues • Prepare the budget and review the budget justification • Secure subcontract information • Assist with cost share documentation • Prepare Current & Pending Reports for investigator approval • Involve University Contracting Group services if needed

Roles and Responsibilities Pre-Award Center • Assist with sponsor forms and electronic submission systems • Assure the proposal meets all sponsor guidelines and is in final form • Obtain appropriate academic and business office signatures and provide institutional approval • Assist with sponsor requests for re-budgets, Just in Time information, etc.

Roles and Responsibilities Principal Investigator • Notifies Pre-Award Center of intent to submit proposal as soon as PI becomes aware of opportunity (at least 2 weeks prior to proposal deadline) • Familiarize self with submission application (RFP) • Provide technical content • Works with Pre-Award Center on fully costing the budget/ budget justifications

  8. Roles and Responsibilities Principal Investigator • Completes text and any other necessary agency forms in compliance with agency guidelines. May include: Checklist, Bio-sketch, Budget Justification, Current & Pending, etc. • Assures the proposal meets format requirements (fonts, page #’s, etc.) • Solicits and secures all cost share commitments

Roles and Responsibilities Principal Investigator • Forwards entire proposal to Pre-Award Center • Make changes to documents as needed • Provides contact information to the Pre-Award Center for any proposal questions throughout the review process • Complete and approve the Proposal Submission Form • Notifies Pre-Award Center of collaborating institution(s) and provides business contact

  10. Proposal Submission Form • The purpose of the Proposal Submission Form (PSF) is to raise questions that should be considered by faculty researchers and University administrators before endorsing a proposal to a funding agency.

  11. Proposal Submission Form Generated from Coeus • Provides proposal information regarding: • Sponsor • Contacts • Amount • Dates, etc.

  12. Proposal Submission Form • Notifies appropriate parties regarding the use of human subjects, animals or rDNA • Academic Approvals • Credit splits (Reporting) • Conflict of Interest

  15. Obtaining Faculty Feedback • Customer Satisfaction Survey • Sent to PI’s that submitted a new, resubmission or renewal proposal • Four question survey • Purpose is to provide feedback on the level of service provided for each proposal
