  2. Man in the supreme plan of God • He is Khalifah: vicegerent and Trustee of Allah swt (God). Qur’an 2/30 • He is the most honorable creation of Allah swt (God). Qur’an 17/70 • The greatest gift given to man after his life is his intelligence (Hadith) • What makes man responsible for his words and actions, and accountable to God is: free will and freedom of choice. Qur’an 18/29, 17/15, 10/99, 2/256, 5/48, 81/27-28, 76/29,

Aims and Objectives of education • To produce individuals who have faith and knowledge, one sustaining the other. • Knowledge without faith is not only partial knowledge but can be a kind of new ignorance. • Islamic education insists on the fact that piety and faith must be recognized as integrated part of the educational system. • Wisdom will be the fruit of true knowledge.

  4. Best of the Humankinds are the most knowledgeable ones • The test of any educational program must be whether it brings the student nearer to God and His creations, as a result of his faith and knowledge of both: God and His creations in general and humankind in particular. Qur’an 58/11 • Is he aware of God’s presence with him?, which is the source of all good. Qur’an 2/115

Qualities of a good student • To be humble. • To respect both: knowledge and Teacher. • To enjoy the purity of heart. • To treat all others with kindness and fairness. • To have no grudge, enmity, jealousy, ill will or ill feelings and hatred for any one. • To work very hard to excel in all aspects of life • To be selective and focus. • To keep away from the disputed matters.

Act on advice of the teacher as a patient submits to the advice of the physician.A good student should attain knowledge attentively, humbly, thankfully, patiently, and gladly, like the soft soil receives heavy rains by completely absorbing it, as we will learn from the story of Prophet Moses pbuh

The spiritual knowledge, if attained in a balanced way, must result in (1) Nearness to Allah swt, (God), and toHis creations (2) Adornment and beautification of your inner self with high religious and moral values.(3) Making you the most kind, helpful, just, and productive member in the human society

  8. Prophet Muhammad pbuh, said: Ink of a scholar is holier in the sight of God than the blood of a martyr. Those who know and those who do not know, can never be equal. Qur’an 39/9 Seek knowledge even if you have to go to (as far as) as China. (Hadith) One scholar is heavier on Satan than one thousand worshippers. (Hadith)

Religious or Secular • There is no concept of secular in Islam. • All sciences which help man reach the highest point of excellence in understanding the universe are religious and compulsory for man to learn. • Islam highly encouraged the learning of medical science, astronomy, astrology, Physics, and mathematics etc.

  10. A Caliph of God on earth • Man can only represent God on earth as an educated individual. • One can not even worship God without learning about Him. • The real love for God and His creation can be developed through the knowledge. • Fear and doubts are removed by knowledge.

  15. Prophet Muhammad pbuh said: • Whoever walks a road seeking knowledge, Allah will make easy the path to the Garden (Jannah) for him (Muslim) • To whomsoever Allah wants to do some good, He will grant him the understanding of the religious system and will guide him to straight path. (Ibn Maja)

  16. Abdullah son of Abbas R.A. said: • The rank of scholars is 700 times higher than the rank of believers • He explained saying: there is a distance of 500 years journey between each 2 ranks out of 700 ranks mentioned above

  17. 1. The ‘Ulamaa’ (Scholars) are the heirs of the Prophets pbut.Bukhari2. Prophet Muhammad pbuh said: as long as the Scholars do not associate with the rulers, they are the deputies of the Prophets of Allah over His servants. But when they associate with the rulers they betray the apostles. Beware therefore of them and avoid them.
