6. Transition for 1st to 11th HKGSA awarded Green Schools • Green School title retained for 3 more years, till Sep 2016 (application is required) • 1st to 11th HKGSA awarded Green School should submit their updated SAM in Feb 2016 in order to acquire a new title starting from 2016!

Self Assessment Manual • Core Module • Background and current status • Supplementary Sections • Environmental Policy and Campus Environment • Environmental Management Measures • Environmental Education Plan and Implementation • Environmental Education Effectiveness, including 3 sub-sections • (D1) Environmental Education Evaluation (Design of assessments, Control of parameters, Interpretation of assessed information) • (D2) Partner Synergy in Environmental Activities (Coverage, impact or improvement of assessed aspects as well as stakeholders) • (D3) External Recognition of School’s Environmental Activities • Benchmark score: 70% of the total/sub-total score

Minor Work Projects Award (ECF) • Greening (roof/ podium/ wall) • Small-scale food waste composter • Renewable energy items • Energy saving items • Impacts, outcomes, effectiveness • Eligibility: • ECF funded minor work projects • One year after completion • Independent of HKGSA assessment mechanism • School may take part in either MWPA/HKGSA or both • Assessment: Student group presentation (2~3p)

Award and Accreditation • Green School Award • Gold, Silver and Bronze (According to SAM supp. sections completed) • HKAEE Nomination:not more than 10 top-scoring schools from each of the primary school and secondary school categories will be nominated to compete for 2014 HKAEE • Obligation of Silver and Gold Green School: to nurture more green schools, such as… • To offer school visits for other HKGSA participating schools • To appoint staff to be facilitators • Greening School Merit • Completion of SAM Core Module & meeting benchmark score in Supp. Section A • Winners cannot title themselves “Green School” • Minor Works Project Award • 3 primary and 3 secondary Schools will be awarded at most • Independent of the Green School Award

What you need to do… • Send us your application(including schools attained Green School status before) (Deadline: 25 OCT 2013) • “Keep calm and carry on” • You have 3 years to improve • Workshops, School visits (Nov-Dec 2013) • Complete internally the SAM core module (P. 11-13) and supplementary sections (P. 14-24E/14-21中) • Keep a hard copy record • Discuss with facilitators/Project Coordination Office • Send us your SAM • Core module (P. 11-13) • Score Sheet (P.25E/22中) (Deadline: 21 FEB 2014) • Prepare for field assessments (MAR-MAY 2014) • Provide feedbacks (JUN-JUL 2014)
