Sustainability for ACI-NA A holistic approach to managing an airport so as to ensure the integrity of the Economic viability, Operational efficiency, Natural Resource conservation and Social responsibility of the airport. (EONS) Airports Council International – North America Aviation Sustainability Working Group A Joint Effort of the Environmental Committee and the Technical & Operations Committee ACI-NA Board of Directors form Sustainability Steering Committee

ACI-NA’s Approach • Environmental and Technical Committees establish the Sustainability Working Group • Implementation of the Website and Best Practices Database • Identify need to to integrate activities of all ACI-NA Committees • Establishment of Sustainability Steering Group • Forward Plan: Identify sustainable opportunities aligned with Committee Work Plans

Sustainability Working Group’s Challenge • Sustainability is holistic and “more than Green” • Transformation to sustainable airport development and operations requires efforts of all ACI-NA committees • Website and Best Practices Database need to be populated with material from all committees

Sustainability Steering Group • Sustainability Steering Group established • Representatives from all ACI-NA Standing Committees • Mission: Identify and promote opportunities for sustainable airport development and operations practices within each committee’s special scope of expertise • Met for the first time in early August • Resolution for consideration by Fall ACI-NA BOD - SIST and SIT

SIST Forward Plan • Identify initiatives from Committee Work Plan that can be aligned with sustainable development • Incorporate relevant PS&S sustainability resource data into website • Highlight PS&S best sustainable practices and include in database • Promote opportunities for sustainable practices within PS&S Committee

Role of PS&S Committee • Potential PS&S sustainability projects • Consolidated receiving • Long-term BSIS view of baggage screening • Vetting/screening airport employees • Identifying the sustainable layered security approach • Review work plan to identify sustainable project opportunities • Recruit interested PS&S committee members for SIT • Met for the first time in early August • Resolution for consideration by Fall ACI-NA BOD - SIST and SIT
