  2. HEALTH SPENDING AND BENEFITS • https://asebp.ab.ca/ - Go and register online • Benefits are pro-rated to FTE vs 28hr • Health Spending - Contributions begin in 2nd year, the current contribution is $450 per year based on FTE. Enrollment deadline is November.

  3. PENSION PLAN www.lapp.ca http://pensionsustainability.alberta.ca • Simple fact, it doesn’t add up to a lot but the program is changing after 2015, because we’re living too long ;-) (that’s the good news) • Currently the magic number is 85 - years of work and age -so 55 works for many but…. • After 2015 retiring before 65 will result in reduced payments for the years AFTER 2015 but current rates for the years prior to 2015.

  4. CONFIDENTIALITY • From the contract: “Information communicated to or acquired by the Employee in the course of carrying out his/her duties under the terms and conditions of this agreement, shall not be divulged or made use of by the Employee on any other project or for any other purpose…” • FOIP - “…shall both respect and maintain privacy and confidentiality entitlements of students, parents, staff, the school and Westwind, all in accordance with the requirements of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and any Westwind policies or regulations related thereto.”

  5. DOCUMENTATION - DRAGNET “JUST THE FACTS MA’AM” • What role do we play in IEP’s? • What should we be writing down? • Behavior logs - Frequency, Severity, # over set time, Time on task, time to get started, • Recording of Antecedent or events that happened before - not emotions or reactions but the actual trigger A+B(behavior) & C (consequence) Be Specific

  6. JOB DESCRIPTION • There is a job description and Code of Conduct. It may be in need of a bit of review and work given that it is pre-IPad, and just few things have changed with the directions of Alberta Education and the Inspiring Education initiative.

  7. EVALUATION LEADING TO GROWTH • Evaluation starts with ourselves reflecting upon what we are doing, why we are doing it, how we are doing and the impact of those choices upon the education and experience of the students we are working with. • Evaluation continues by engaging in conversations with the teachers and educators we work with to ensure we are on the same page.

  8. PD, GROWTH AND SUPPORT • What are our needs? • How can we leverage technology? • What do you want from the work and how can we better meet the needs of our students?

  9. APPS….WHAT, WHERE, WHY • Play in the Sandbox but play with purpose April 3, 2010
