Etihad Rail – the Global Perspective The UAE’s railway network will capitalize on the UAE’s strategic location, bridging trade gaps between East and West by linking to the country’s ports and borders. The scale of this national project will further strengthen the UAE’s position as a global hub for logistics and transportation.

  5. UAE Economic Visions Key economic projects (Selection) • UAE Vision 2021 sets the key themes of socio-economic developmentof the UAE. Specifically, the charter calls for a shift to a diversified and knowledge-based economy • Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 forms a roadmap for the Emirate of Abu Dhabi • Targets an increase of the GDP contribution from non-oil sectors to above 60% by 2030 • Twelve strategic industry sectors identified, including Transportation & Logistics Etihad Rail Saadiyat Island DP World Terminal 3 AUH Airport Expansion ENEC Nuclear Plant CMAG Chemicals City Source: Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 The UAE - A Diversifying Economy Etihad Rail is in line with the objective for further diversification of the UAE’s economy as set by the UAE Vision 2021 and the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030.

Further rail projects in the region also drive the development of the railway industry in the Middle East. Saipem-Tecnimont-Dodsalconsortium construction work underway in 22 locations • Delivery of seven locomotives from Electro Motive Diesel in Q1 2013 • Delivery of 240 covered hopper wagons in Dec 2012 • Sleeper factory under operation from Aug 2012 with a capacity of 600,000 sleepers annually • Expected start of operation for first phase of Stage 1 (Habshan-Ruwais) by end of 2013 • Expected start of operation for phase 2 of Stage 1 (Shah-Habshan) by end of 2014 Stage 1

  14. 22 million cubic metres of earthworks • Construction of 13 bridges and 106 concrete structures underway • Import of 43,900 tonnes of steel rails, 202,000 metric tonnes of ballast & 152,400 sleepers • Construction of two real size sand breaker models & dedicated thermometers Stage 1

Stage 2: Completing the rail network in the emirate of Abu Dhabi and linking it to Dubai and the Saudi and Omani borders • Engineering designs for Stage 2 are complete • Tendering process underway • Stage 3: Extending the rail network to the Northern Emirates • Etihad Rail is working closely with each of the emirates involved to define and safeguard the route. Preliminary engineering is well underway. Stages 2 and 3
