  1. Personification -Example: an animal given human –like qualities or an object given life qualities. -Definition: theattributionofapersonalnature  or character to inanimateobjectsorabstractnotions,especially as a rhetorical figure.

  2. Alliteration • Define : Consonant sounds repeated at the beginning of words. • Example : when sally seems to sit somewhere separate from Sonia or Caleb calls Chris cause he’s coming to California.

  3. Assonance • Define:Repeated vowel sound in a line or lines of poetry. • Example: as soon as my bass band left baster club, laser an chaser where fighting over my master.

  4. Hyperbole • Define: Exaggeration often used for emphasis. • Example: Take something that’s true , then exaggerate it way father .

  5. Onomatopoeia • Define: Words that imitate the sound they are naming . • Example: Buzz, bang, crackle, splash sputter, boom, meow, quack ,chirp ,boom, sizzle and click.

  6. Metaphor • Define: Apattern of stressed and unstressed syllables. • Example: Its raining cats an dog outside.

  7. Simile • Define: A comparison of two things using “like or “as. • Example: my mind is like an ocean its smooth as jazz.

  8. Imagery • Define: most images are visual,buttheyb can also appeal to the senses of sound
