  1. Week of September 6th Sight Words: The following are words that your child will need to learn to read and spell. They are words that occur often in what we will read this year, and they are words that your child will need to use in his/her writing. Words: 1. was 2. in 3. you 4. it 5. he Phonics The following is the spelling pattern that we will be focusing on this week. Please work with your student to see if he/she can make other words that have the same spelling pattern. This pattern will be tested (not a list of specific words). Weekly Focus: ‘an’ family (Example: fan/ plan ) Please sign here each night: _________ ____________ __________ Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Vocabulary: The following are vocabulary words that will be covered in our reading selection this week. Please talk with your child about the meaning of these words and how they can be used in a sentence. Since the meanings of these words are most important to having your child understand the text, we will not be concentrating on the spellings. Your child should, however, be able to recognize and pronounce the words by sight. Words  *ordinary *tremble *grin    Weekly Math: The following math pages are to be completed out of the Homework & Problem Solving book your child brought home. These pages are to stay in their book at home. This weeks math pages: 11-20 (Place Value and Regrouping may be tough as this is new to many.)
