  2. Blood supply • Gingiva have a rich blood supply derived from 3 sources • Supraperiosteal vessels • Periodontal ligament vessels • Alveolar crest vessels • These link in the gingiva to form capillary loops in the CT papillae and drains in to the regional lymph nodes

  3. Lymphatic drainage • From mandibular gingival lymph nodes  cervical  submandibular  submental • From maxillary gingival lymph nodes  deep cervical lymph nodes

  4. Nerve supply • Derived from branches of the trigeminal nerve • A number of nerve endings is identified in the gingival CT • Tactile corpuscles • Temperature receptors • Pain receptors
