  4. DVD Releases • Back to the Future was first released on DVD in mid 2002 • There was then a re release in 2005 this DVD can be purchased for approximately £3.75. This low price could be because the dvd is only in standard definition and most people like HD. By having the price so low it prevents people from illegally downloading the film • In 2008 there was another release for a 25th anniversary edition but only for the trilogy. • In October 2010 the Blu Ray version of the film was released. The average price for a Blu ray copy is £13.99

There were only 7 issues released.

  7. Conclusion • The film industry of today compared to 1980s has changed dramatically. This is largely due to the internet and the way films are marketed. • For example the advertising for a film nowadays is much more crucial to the success of a film.This is because there is so much competition between film companies so they release teaser trailers and posters to build an interest before the release. • In the 1980s the profit made on a film was higher than the amount that film companies get now. This is due to the internet and the fact that it is so easy to pirate a film and watch it illegally on the internet. This therefore means that the film companies receive less money from film concessions and therefore less profit.
