  3. Massachusetts • This is the colony where the Pilgrims settled after they left England • It borders New York, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and Rode Island • Part of New England • Boston is apart of this state • The Boston Tea Party

  4. New Hampshire • Was originally part of the Massachusetts Bay Colony. • When the Revolutionary war occurred the providence was divided. • Borders New York and Massachusetts

  5. Rode Island #1 • First to declare independence from England • was the smallest colony • Borders Massachusetts and Connecticut • Part of New England

  6. Connecticut • The Constitution State • Borders New York, Massachusetts, and Rode Island • Is part of New England Connecticut = navy We the people…

  7. New York • Borders Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, • Was founded in 1626 and named after the Duke of York • The main industry was manufacturing and agriculture

  8. New Jersey • After the English conquered New Amsterdam. King Charles II gives this providence to his brother, the Duke of York. • borders Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New York

  9. Pennsylvania • Founded by William Penn and the Quakers • They created their own colony because they were unwelcomed in Massachusetts • Holds the Liberty Bell • Borders New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland

  10. Delaware • Originally Dutch only other Colony that was not founded by the English was New York • Did not become independent until after the war, was controlled by other colonies • Borders New Jersey, Maryland, and Pennsylvania

  11. Maryland • In 1633 was founded by Lord Baltimore. • Named after King Charles’ wife, Mary. Mary’s Land…Maryland • Borders Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Virginia

  13. North Carolina • First settlers were trying to get to Virginia but in the winter ended up in Raleigh and settled there instead • Borders Virginia and South Carolina

  14. South Carolina • Was the richest colony in North America • Borders North Carolina and Georgia

  15. Georgia • This was the colony were those who could not pay their debt were sent to live • It borders South Carolina and then Spanish Florida
