Fast Food Nation: Chapter 1 The American Way Brianna Johnson & Michaela Jarvis
Summary • The first chapter of this book discusses the growth of restaurants over the past thirty to forty years. Restaurants began as hot dog stands one could reach on foot, escalating to drive-ins. Proceeding drive-ins, the McDonald brothers proposed self-service restaurants, not offering carhops or bus boys. Soon after, other vendors realized the McDonalds’ success and embraced the idea as well. This lead America to all the fast food restaurants we have today.
