What’s been happening ? • Administrative Teams have been meeting • SharePoint Board • Advisory Team • Policy & Standards Team • Implementation Team • SharePoint 2013 test environment is completed • SharePoint 2013 production environment is almost completed • Getting ready to enter pre-production phase of our migration plan

SharePoint 2013 Migration Timelines • (tentative and subject to change) • PHASE I (moving SharePoint 2010 environment to new hardware and SharePoint 2013) • Test Environment (completed) • Environment has been opened to “blank site” testing • Production Environment • Design and implementation of new hardware architecture (in progress) • Environment pre-shakedown (August 16 through September 9) • Open for preproduction testing • Prod1 Farm (September 9 – September 30) • Prod2 Farm (September 9 – November 1) • Production migration to new hardware • Prod1 Farm (Standard Farm) – Sunday, October 10 • Prod2 Farm (Advanced Farm) – Sunday, November 13 • PHASE II (moving sites from SharePoint 2010 bit-code to SharePoint 2013 bit code) • Bit Code upgrades from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 • Prod1 Farm – My Sites (October 10) • Prod1 Farm – Departmental/Group Sites (TBD) • Prod2 Farm – Departmental/Group Sites (TBD)

Pre-Productiontesting using SharePoint 2013 production environment • To allow site collection owners and site owners the ability to test their existing SharePoint 2010 in SharePoint 2013. • Ability to commit their site from SP2010 to SP2013 • Available after change freeze • After chanage freeze (Sept 2), we will be doing weekly migrations. Send e-mail to SP2013@indiana.edu by Noon each Friday and the requested site you want migrated. The site will be available the following Monday. • Prod1 farm (currently 2010 Standard Farm) testing will be available from August 12 to September 30. • Prod2 farm (currently 2010 Advance Farm) testing will be available from August 12 to November 1. • Document changes!!! • Nothing will be kept in final migration and changes will need to be reapplied.

Centralized SharePoint Enterprise Environment • Phase I: (January – December 2013) • Establishment of SharePoint Administrative teams (in progress) • Establishment of an IU SharePoint Governance Plan (in progress) • Review and addition of staff to meet administrative and support needs (in progress) • Review issue\problem escalation process and make modifications as necessary (in progress) • Obtain “critical data” approval from the university Data Stewards for the SharePoint platform (completed) • Establish a process for new feature enhancement and upgrade requests to be received, reviewed, approved and implemented (in progress) • Establish the base test infrastructure (completed) • Offer preproduction testing options for current SharePoint 2010 sites (in progress) • Establish the base production infrastructure (in progress) • Offer preproduction production testing options for current SP 2010 in a SP 2013 environment (in progress) • Migrate the 2010 Standard SharePoint Farm to new hardware under 2010 bit code (tentative date – Oct 2013) • Migrate the 2010 Advanced SharePoint Farm to new hardware under 2010 bit code (tentative date – Nov 2013) • Upgrade the “My Sites” bit code from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 (tentative date – Oct 2013) • All new sites will be created in SP 2013 bit code

Centralized SharePoint Enterprise Environment • Phase II: (January – December 2014) • Upgrade the team and departmental sites bit code from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 • All new sites created in SharePoint 2013 bit code • Upgrade KL and custom solution sites bit code from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013 code bit • Continue to review and refine IU’s SharePoint Governance Plan • Develop and offer new SharePoint 2013 training through IT Training • Continue to review and establish new and additional support resources, including a "support resources portal" site within SharePoint
