  1. TITLE: Making It Happen TEXT: Acts 6 THEME: Without Administration the Vision Perishes.

  2. Only 10-20% of my time in ministry was spent on what my college and seminary classes prepared me for.

  3. It is these many details that can make or break a church or a business yet it seems to be the least interesting and motivating responsibility of the people of any organization- no one likes the reports and the details.

  4. Why are good administration practices essential to helping us reach our vision?

  5. Because ours is a spiritual venture we need God’s guidance and empowerment, therefore we need:

  6. Acts 6 6 In those days when the number of disciples was increasing, the Hellenistic Jews[a] among them complained against the Hebraic Jews because their widows were being overlooked in the daily distribution of food. 2 So the Twelve gathered all the disciples together and said, “It would not be right for us to neglect the ministry of the word of God in order to wait on tables.

  7. Acts 6 3 Brothers and sisters, choose seven men from among you who are known to be full of the Spirit and wisdom. We will turn this responsibility over to them 4 and will give our attention to prayer and the ministry of the word.” 5 This proposal pleased the whole group. They chose Stephen, a man full of faith and of the Holy Spirit; also Philip, Procorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas from Antioch, a convert to Judaism.

  8. Acts 6 6 They presented these men to the apostles, who prayed and laid their hands on them. 7 So the word of God spread. The number of disciples in Jerusalem increased rapidly, and a large number of priests became obedient to the faith.

  19. Dr. Ben Carson I slipped out and got a Bible. Back on the bathroom floor, I opened to the Book of Proverbs. The words of Proverbs 16:32—["He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit than he who takes a city"]—convicted me, but also gave me hope. I felt God telling me that although he knew everything about me, he still loved me…

  20. Dr. Ben Carson That because he made me, he was the only one who could change me… And that he would. Gradually I stopped crying, my hands quit shaking, and I was filled with the assurance that God had answered my prayer. Uncontrolled anger has never again been a threat to me or those around me. God has provided and will provide whatever strength I need to control my anger.
