  2. Client • Person or organization who pays for the website to be designed and maintained. • Corporation needing to develop a corporate presence site. • Organization needing to stay in touch with members. • Retail store needing to develop an e-commerce site.

  3. Client Liaison Rep • Maintains contact with client. • Responsible for understanding needs and goals of client and team. • Helps develop Milestones with the client.

  4. Project Manager • Oversees work of all members and make sure they are working together. • Assigns responsibilities/tasks and tracks progress of team members. • Provides resources and help – problem solvers.

  5. Web Author • Content Developer • Writes the material on the site. • Site may require several authors – may require a content editor to make sure all work is together. • Use outlines to explain ideas for each page.

Web Designer • Provides visual direction for the site: • Selects color palette • Gives shape and definition to page • Provides consistent look • Creates storyboards of pages. • After approval of mockups, they: • Creates graphics, navigation buttons, animations, interface layout, and charts. • Creates or obtains photographs, maps, and other visuals to enhance the site.

  7. Web Developer • Using authoring tools or authoring languages…develops or programs the site. • Goal is to enable visitors to load pages, navigate within site, and navigate to external links. • Developer looks at how the site will work.

  9. Webmaster • Implements and maintains completed site. • Posts the web site to the server. • Keeps site updated. • Answers questions from visitors. • Adds new content as needed. • Tests links from time to time to make sure all is working. • Updates external links.
