Why implement a Grant Program? • Purpose • Provide funds to assist chapters in accomplishing specific objectives within the scope of their missions • Policy • Grant submission is consistent with NCMA strategic goals • Use of funds would accomplish a worthy objective they would not otherwise be able to accomplish

  3. Who will oversee the program? • Oversight - Chapter Development Committee • Request funds through F&B Committee • Review grant applications, select recipients, approve changes, review final reports, generate BOD summary • Responsibility - Executive Director is responsible for implementation (communications, calls for applications, coordinating the review process with CDC, notifying recipients, payments to chapters, tracking results

How will the program work? • Chapters must have submitted Annual Report to be eligible •  Funds not for routine operating expenses, website management, newsletters, offset meal costs •  Funds must be spent for purpose stated in application & must be spent before end of fiscal period •  Additional grants may be awarded during program year • Unused grant funds will be returned to NCMA within 30 days of intended program • Program report of program within 30 days of completion

  5. What is the annual schedule? Annual Process  January 31 - CDC requests funds Finance and Budget Committee; approved by BOD at spring conference  May 31 - Executive issues call for applications  August 31 - Chapters submit applications  October 1 - CDC reviews/evaluates applications  October 10 - Executive Director notifies applicants of grant award/declines; issues grant checks October 20 - Chapters may appeal decisions October 30 - CDC reviews and decides appeals

  6. What is the 09-10 schedule? Initial Schedule 7/12 - CDC requests funds from F&B Committee; approved by BOD at spring conference 8/1 - ED communicates rebate change; announces Grant Program 8/15 - ED issues call for applications 9/30 - Chapters submit applications  10/30 - CDC reviews/evaluates applications  11/23 - Executive Director notifies applicants of grant award/declines; issues grant checks 12/10 - Chapters may appeal decisions 12/20 - CDC reviews and decide on appeals
