  1. July 3 2016 The Truth About America

  2. The TRUTH About America’s Founding “32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:32

  3. When there is moral rot within a nation, its government topples easily. But with wise and knowledgeable leaders, there is stability.Proverbs 28:2

  4. Tomorrow, July 4th and we will celebrate 240 years of the longest ongoing Constitutional Republic in ____________________________! BTW---The Founders hated Democracies! THE HISTORY OF MANKIND

  5. CONSTITUTIONS France since 1780’s have had 15 different gov’t docs. Brazil 7 since 1822. Russia 4 since 1918! America has had ONE!

  6. Why such Stability? The Two Longest Constitutional Republics (Israel and America) involving Freedom, Private Ownership, Free Enterprise, Self-rule, Hard Work Ethic, etc. were based on the _________ B I B L E!

  7. Thinking of the Founders The Constitution By-laws Declaration of Independence Purpose Statement Foundational Truth The BIBLE

  8. **People today do NOT KNOW… 1. The Founding Documents— The Declaration & The Constitution 2. The Bible That’s why people don’t connect the dots!

  9. This failure to read and obey these founding documents of a Constitutional Republichappened once before. The Result was TRAGIC!

  10. "No people will tamely surrender their Liberties, nor can any be easily subdued, when knowledge is diffused and Virtue is preserved. On the Contrary, when People are universally ignorant, and debauched in their Manners, they will sink under their own weight without the Aid of foreign Invaders." Samuel Adams- Letter to James Warren, November 4, 1775

  11. “There can be no constitution to deal with human passions unbridled by morality and religion [Christianity].” Fisher Ames (author of the 1st amendment to the Constitution)

  12. There is a push today to describe our Constitution as a “living” document. Implying it can be and should be “changed” and “mature”--- brought “up to speed for today.” This will lead drastic change or elimination altogether. We MUST NOT let that happen!

  13. Reasons for Checks and Balances? Constitutional Convention minutes made it clear Jeremiah 17:9-- “The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?

  14. Where did the Founders get the idea of 3 branches of Government? For the Lord is our judge, (Judicial) our lawgiver, (Legislative) and our king. (Executive) Isaiah 33:22

  15. A quick word about “modernism” Modernism is a practice (in history) that takes the past and interprets it in the light of the present. This should never be done. Language, culture, etc. changes and so to use a modernistic approach will lead to a concluding error many times. Example Benjamin Rush was a Unitarian

  16. Turn us back to You, O Lord, and we will be restored; Renew our days as of old,Lamentations 5:21

  17. Everyday that goes by more and more rulings are totally anti-ChristianFor that day [Christ’s return] will not come until there is a great rebellion against God…… 2 Thessalonians 2

  18. WE NEED TO KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT AMERICA’S SPIRITUAL HERITAGE!10 After that generation died, another generation grew up who did not acknowledge the Lord or remember the mighty things he had done for Israel. 11 Then the Israelites did what was evil in the Lord’s sight and worshiped the images of Baal. Judges 2:10

  19. What is the Truth, the Whole Truth, and Nothing But the Truth About America? Let’s take the 1st amendment. We are told today by MSM and educational institutes that the Constitution provides separation of church and state. Actually, seems to be freedom FROM religions is the current emphasis.

  20. This is in the Constitution…..(article 124) “In order to ensure to citizens freedom of conscience, the church …... is separated from the State, and the school from the church. Freedom of religious worship and freedom of anti-religious …… is recognized for all citizens” (Article 124)

  21. Oh, did I forget to tell you that article 124 was in theCONSTITUTION OF THE USSR1960’s

  22. AMENDMENT 1---Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

  23. Congress shall make no law respecting 1. an establishment of religion, or 2. prohibiting the free exercise thereof; mmm…did anyone see the words “separation of church and state”in there? In fact, you will not find the words “church” “state” “separation” in the Constitution anywhere! Nor is it in the Declaration! So…..

  24. We have been lied to!“separation of church and state” is not in the Constitution! If you tell a lie often enough it becomes truth, people will eventually come to believe itJoseph Goebels Vladimir Lenin

  25. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free --Jesus John 8 WHERE DID THAT PHRASE COME FROM?

  26. In the early years of our nation (1650-1750’s) no one denomination was made a state religion. But sometimes one had more clout. The Danbury Baptists of Connecticut were concerned that Jefferson, unlike Washington, Adams, was not a really strong, practicing Christian, might be weak on the First Amendment. Plus, he had no direct part in the writing of the Constitution. So, they wrote a letter congratulating him for being prez & sharing their fears. (Google Danbury Letter to Jefferson)http://www.stephenjaygould.org/ctrl/dba_jefferson.html….http://www.auok.org/jefferson%27s_danbury_letter.htm…

  27. Jefferson wrote a letter back……. Believing with you that religion is a matter that lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,” thus building a wall of separation between church and state.(emphasis added)

  28. Adhering to this expression of the supreme will of the Nation in behalf of the rights of conscience, I shall see with sincere satisfaction the progress of those sentiments which tend to restore to man his natural rights, convinced that he has no natural right in opposition to his social duties. I reciprocate your kind prayers for the protection and blessing of the Common Father and Creator of man, and tender you for yourselves and your religious association, assurances of high respect and esteem. Thomas Jefferson

  29. Why did Jefferson chose this phrase “wall of separation?” Where did that phrase come from? IT WAS A BRILLIANT MOVE BY JEFFERSON!! Came from Rev. Roger Williams (1603-1683) ===one of their guys! ===Williams was the first to use the term “wall of separation.” ===He was a champion of religious liberty. ===His works & writings foundational to the Founding Fathers ==Williams believed “freedom of religion God-given natural right.” Most importantly, Williams believed that the WALL was a one way wall to protect Religion from Government. **None of the FF or Williams saw this as a 2 way wall.

  30. It is interesting that for the first 150+ years hardly any court cited Jefferson’s letter and phrase when dealing with First Amendment issues. In fact, they hardly cited Jefferson at all, but now he’s right popular!!! • Jefferson was not in America during the Constitution writing (Payne, Adams were overseas) • When courts did cite him it was in support of a ONE WAY WALL--- not to limit religious expression but to limit government interference Reynolds v U.S., 98 U.S. 145, 163-164 (1878) Note in the ruling all of Jefferson’s letter is cited in the ruling….

  31. Definition of “Religion”Webster’s Dictionary 1828 RELIGION--Includes a belief in the being and perfections of God, in the revelation of his will to man, and in man’s obligation to obey his commands, in a state of reward and punishment, and in man’s accountableness to God; and also true godliness or piety of life, with the practice of all moral duties……the practice of moral duties without a belief in the divine lawgiver, and without reference to his will or commands is not religion.

  32. It seems logical to me (and should to you) that if the founders wanted a wall of separation between the Gov and Religion as espoused today they would have been very careful to not blend the two together. Seems to me they would NOT have put references to God and the Bible on coins, on buildings, in speeches, in writings, etc. They would NOT have had any religious connections with education.

  33. Beginning of Public EducationMid-Late 1600’s 1647—The Old Deluder Satan Act 1650—Code of 1650 (Ludlow’s code)

  34. Both Laws Attacked Illiteracy! WHY was Illiteracy so important? Read the Laws--their purpose is clear! 1. Understand the Bible 2. Understand the Laws of the State

  35. It being one chief project of that old deluder, Satan, to keep men from the knowledge of the Scriptures, as in former times by keeping them in an unknown tongue, so in these latter times by persuading from the use of tongues, that so that at least the true sense and meaning of the original might be clouded and corrupted with false glosses of saint-seeming deceivers; and to the end that learning may not be buried in the grave of our forefathers, in church and commonwealth, the Lord assisting our endeavors….. (1647)

  36. “This legislature observing that . . . there are many persons unable to read the English tongue and thereby incapable to read the holy Word of God or the good laws of this colony . . . it is ordered that all parents and masters shall cause their respective children and servants, as they are capable, to be taught to read distinctly the English tongue(1690)

  37. The American Public Schools system was started to assure People could READ THE BIBLE!

  38. And understanding the Bible they would not allow anyone to make Evil Laws! Remember today people do NOT know the Bible, The Declaration or the Constitution!

  39. The New England Primerused until 1900 as a main text of Elementary Education First graders were expected to learn the alphabet with Bible contentA A wise son makes a glad fatherB BETTER is little with fear of God…C COME to Christ all who …. E ELIJAH hid  By Ravens fed J JOB feels the Rod,-  Yet blesses GODN NOAH did view  The old world & new. P PETER deny'd  His Lord and cry'd.Plus many questions about the Bible—most church members today would struggle to answer them!

  40. “It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was grounded not by religionists but by Christians. Not on religion but on the gospel of Jesus Christ.”Patrick Henry

  41. “If we are not governed by God we will be ruled by tyrants.”William Penn
