  1. Journal Prompt # 9: If you were trapped on an island what would you want to bring with you? Who would you want to bring with you? Explain.

  3. Pagination • Make sure your last name is in the top right corner of the page. • Each page should also be numbered • Example: • Khan 1 • Khan 2

  4. Heading • In the top left corner of the your paper you should include your name, your teacher’s name, the class, and the date.

  5. Example Catherine Khan Mrs. Burgess English IV Honors 9 March 2012

  6. Title • The title of your paper should be centered at top of the page.

  8. Citations • Each direct quote should be cited. You should provide the page number and the line number • Example: “A powerful monster, living down / In the darkness, growled in pain…” (42 lines 1-2) • Notice that I did not have to include “pg”

  9. Formatting • Times New Roman • Size 12 font • Double space

  10. Reminders • Beowulf is a major work, therefore it should be in italics. • Both the movie and the text should be in italics so be sure to indicate which one you are referencing in your paper. • The only time we underline major works is when we are writing.

  11. Peer editing • When you are editing papers make sure to look for: • Syntax • Grammar • Word choice • Overall cohesiveness of the paper • Comprehension of the plot • At the end of the paper write a quick paragraph detailing ideas or thoughts that you had about their paper. Be sure to include constructive criticism as well as positive feedback.

  12. Lastly…. • Make sure you put your name at the bottom of the paper you are editing to receive credit.
