Why cover 4? • It gets 9 men in the box against the run game • It handles play action pass with four deep defenders • It takes care of 4 vertical routes • Cover 4 is very adjustable against a wide variety of offenses • It can be taught in a relatively short period of time • It is easily disguised and gives QB’s a false pre-snap read

Pass Reads • Sky call needs to be made by corners and safeties • Tight displacement..inside release by #2= man coverage for Safety and corner • Tight displacement..outside release by #2 =match up zone • Corners on #1 and Safeties on #2 unless they cross sidewalks • Lock call is made safety is route goes past 10 yards
