  1. EASY UPS Receivers Line R Coach or QB Q Coach or QB Q Receivers Line R Easy Ups- 2-3 footballs. Use a Coach or a QB. Receivers line up split 5-10 yards outside the C/QB and one at a time and on the C/QB’s command that receiver jogs in in a straight half speed while the C/QB lofts soft rainbow passes at the receiver no more than 10 yards deep. The receiver must use only one hand to catch the football and is allowed to use his body. Receivers returns the football to the C/QB by running it back to him and never throwing it back to him. He does this while staying out of the drill so the C/ QB can go rapid fire secession. Do 5 reps to the right per receiver and 5 reps to the left. Coach or QB Q Receivers Line R Then after doing easy ups have the receivers line up directly in front of the C/QB and one at a time and on the C/QB’s command that receiver jogs in in a straight half speed while the C/QB lofts soft rainbow passes at the receiver no more than 5 yards deep right over the top of the receiver head and in front of him. The receiver can now use two hands to catch the football but must find the football blind without looking back to the C/QB. Receivers returns the football to the C/QB by running it back to him and never throwing it back to him. He does this while staying out of the drill so the C/ QB can go rapid fire secession. Do 5 reps per reciver. Coach or QB Q Receivers Line R Then after doing the blind concentration reps have the receiver jog 5 yards and then turn around and face the C/QB. The C/QB now is firing a bullet pass right at the receivers facemask right as the receiver stops to turn around. The receiver must catch the football with his hands only, thumbs and forefingers touch making a triangle they must look thru in order to see the football. After the catch then turn back up field at full speed securing the football. Receivers returns the football to the C/QB by running it back to him and never throwing it back to him. He does this while staying out of the drill so the C/ QB can go rapid fire secession. Do 5 reps per receiver.

  2. CONSENTRATION DRILLS R R R R R R R R R R R R Coach or QB Q Q Coach or QB Caterpillars- 1 football. Use a Coach or a QB. Receivers line up all facing the C/QB arms width apart and 3-5 yards away from the C/QB. On the C/QB’s command the receiver to The C/QB’s left takes off right down the backside of the receivers line. All receivers stand with their arms up and may not touch the football. C/QB times his pass to hit the receiver right when he clears the last receiver in line. Receiver may not use their body to catch the football. Hand only with thumbs and forefingers touching making a triangle with arms extended out in front of their body. C/QB must lead the receiver. Receiver returns the football to the C/QB by passing it back to him and assumes his position in the front of the line facing the C / QB with his arms up. Then the next rep starts. Drill caterpillars across the field to the C/QB’s right. After 5 rapid fire reps per receiver reverse the direction and caterpillar to the C/QB’s left. Receivers Line R Coach or QB Q Serpentine- 3-4 footballs. Use a Coach or a QB. Receivers line up and on the C/QB’s command and one at a time the receiver serpentines forwards and backwards 2 yards and sideways 2 yards while facing the C/QB. The C/QB is 5 -7 yards from the serpentine action of the receiver. C/QB rapid fires bullets at the the receiver. Receiver may not use their body to catch the football. Hand only with thumbs and forefingers touching making a triangle. After each catch he quickly rolls the football back towards the C/QB. While he serpentines his knees are high, fast feet and his hips are dropping as he changes direction but his arms stay still giving the C/QB a moving target. The receivers thumbs and forefingers always touch making a triangle. After each rep the receiver returns to the end of the line while the C/QB gathers up the footballs. Do 3 reps per receiver.

  3. ROUTE RUNNIING Receivers Line R Receivers Line R Q C Q C Progressions- 2 footballs. Use a QB and add the Center if you like. Set up cones at your routes break points. The receivers line up and on the QB’s command and one at a time they run at full speed the shortest route in your playbook breaking on each each cone. Each receiver does 4 reps per route. You can rotate the starting QB and the backup at each rep. After all receivers do 4 reps go to the next deepest route and so on to the very deepest route. Start out doing all in routes then go though all out routes. Stress good form and catching with the hands only, securing the football and getting up field. Receivers returns the football to the QB by running it back to him and never throwing it back to him. He does this while staying out of the drill so the QB can go rapid fire secession. Teach the receivers so count their strides to their break points for each route. After a couple of weeks take the cones away. If they cheat the break points then 10 pushups are due once at the back of the line. Begin to really stress a good receivers stance. Feet slightly staggered and not too wide, torso upright. Foot nearest the football up, arms up in a lazy boxers stance, head looking at the football.Teach him to ask the Line Judge for a spot. Arm motioning and pointing down while looking at the Line Judge means the receiver is asking to be on the LOS. Arm motioning and pointing up while looking at the Line Judge means the receiver is asking to be off the LOS. They are not required to do this but always will for the youths when asked.
