  4. Where is Ancient Mesopotamia? • Mesopotamia is a region, NOT a country. In this ancient region, 3 large empires arose - Sumer, Assyria, Babylon • It was located in Southwest Asia, which is now part of the region called the Middle East • Ancient Mesopotamia is located where present-day Iraq is
