  4. Main Paragraph From Writing Lit One of the big situations that helped my reading was in third grade. It was in the first week since we got back from summer break. Our class had just started on a novel. When the teacher came in the beginning of class and said we would be reading aloud, but my stomach just dropped. This is one of my biggest fears; I hated it with an absolute passion. I was the person that would crouch down in my seat and try to hide from the teacher if she was picking someone. So Mrs. Spencer (my teacher) told the class to pull out the book and turn to page eleven. First she called on one of my friends to read a few pages then she stopped and looked straight at me. She said “Patrick will please come to the front and read the next eight pages.” I get to the front of the class and they all are just staring at me and waiting on me to start. I began started and the first few pages were okay, but then I started to struggle with some of the bigger words and started confusing some of them. Then she stopped me about halfway through and in front of the class she asked “Do you need glasses?” It wasn’t an inappropriate question. It just made me feel stupid because I was having trouble with the words. The whole class started to laugh when she announced the comment. After she said that, I told her I didn’t want to read anymore. She knew that what she said hurt my feelings and she didn’t mean for it to. The assistant in the class started to read and Mrs. Spencer came and took me to the hallway and apologized for making the comment. When I went home that day I didn’t want to talk to anyone because I figured they would make fun of me if I did. I was so bothered by what happened in class, I went to my mom and for the next week she helped me learn hundreds of new words and how to enunciate better. I did nothing but read and practice saying the words over and over until I thought I had it perfect. The next week my teacher asked if anyone would like to read aloud, I stood up and told her I would. She said it’s okay you don’t have to if you don’t want to, but I wanted to. I wanted to prove to everyone that I was not illiterate, and prove them wrong I did. I read with power and confidence in my voice. After that class was over my teacher held me after and told me that she was very proud of me for reading that day and that I did a very good job. It made me feel so good about myself; I felt a sense of accomplishment.

  5. My Growth In the Class • Higher Confidence • Better Quality • Better Understating On different Styles of Writings • Found Enjoyment in Writing • Useful Tools I will Continue to Use • Class made me go to the Next Level

  6. Paragraph From Final Reflection • My expectations for the class were low and thought I was going to hate it before we even started. Also my confidence at the beginning of the class was awful. I had no confidence in my writing and thought I was a terrible writer. I didn’t really expect to gain much from the class or become any better of a writer than I already was. As we went through the semester I began to learn things that were helping me in my writing such as structure, my writing process, and much more. This was boosting my confidence because as I began to learn more things my writing became better and stronger overall which resulted in better papers. My expectations for the class began to change right after we wrote the writing literacy. I then began to think that this class is going to be useful and is really going to help my writing. That is also when my confidence began to grow. I was really proud of that paper and proud of all the work that I put into it. From then own I started not to hate going to class because it was helping me and I was seeing improvements in my work. My confidence in my writing changed drastically, and you could tell just from my writings in my writer’s notebook and my forum post. The overall quality of each and everything I wrote was greater and better written. It continues to get better even though there only a couple of class left and the confidence I have in myself continues to improve with everything I write, and I owe it all to this class.

  7. My Writing Style • Brainstorming • Getting Collective ideas and putting them into paragraphs • I then elaborate on the ideas that best display what I want the readers main focus to be on • Reread and polish up everything and fix any unwanted errors
