Weekly Meetings • CE Project Planning(Last Year) • Discuss all of the work going on involving the department • CMMS Optimization • Improving our use of EQ2 HEMS • CE/Imaging & Clinical Systems • Addressing the IT side of the medical devices • CE Leadership • Decision-making & discussion for the department’s operations

  4. Projects • Philips MRx Defibrillators • Completion of 5-year rollout plan • Recall Project • Daylight Savings Time • FetaLink • Replaced OB Tracevue • OR Scope Tracking • Test Equipment Management • Children’s Hospital Pump Committee

  6. Philips MRx • 5 Year Rollout • Began in 2013 • 3 sites • 18 Defibrillators needed to be swapped • MRx Software Recall (2017) • Needed to upgrade the software on every defibrillator in our inventory. • ~180 defibrillators in our inventory • Coordinating with a Philips trained technician

  7. Children’s Hospital Pump Committee Initiative put forth to replace all of the Syringe Pumps in the Children’s Hospital Ran an ECRI comparison Created a questionnaire for the chosen pump companies Met with each company Contract negotiations

  8. OR Scope Scanner • Looking to find the best way to track the scope usage in the OR’s • Working with Surgical Scanning Solutions • Exploring all options • Olympus ALT-Pro • Manual Leak Testing with RFID

  9. Natus Neuroworks Upgrade • Maintain Sleep Center Accreditation • Software no longer being serviced • My Involvement • Obtaining IP Addresses • Rewiring the IT cables • CAT5e to CAT6 • Equipment Inventory • Retiring Old Equipment • Removing PHI

  12. Favorite Clinical Rotations Wound Care – Hyperbaric Labor, Delivery, Recovery & Postpartum (LDRP) Daly OR – Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy Heart and Vascular Critical Care Emergency Department Sleep Center Cardiac Catheterization Dialysis 3D Printing

Emergency Department • Shadowed an attending physician on several occasions • Watched his team attempt to resuscitate a patient • Observed inside the small room while his team put a chest tube into a patient with a collapsed lung • Saw him do an ultrasound on a patient • Watched as he dealt with a violent patient refusing to take medicine to calm down • Looked on as another doctor put a dislocated shoulder back into place • Shadowed a resident • Watched him test the pressure of a 94 year old woman’s eye • Shadowed a nurse

  14. Lessons Learned Good communication is invaluable Organization makes almost everything easier Not everyone responds to change the same way “If it’s not broken, [you] don’t [have to] fix it”… but you can probably improve it
