Basics Steps to follow • Open scanning software (or some are set up to go thru Photoshop File > Import > (name of) Scanner • Set scanner to Positive (as opposed to scanning a negative)
Select Colour (even if your final image is B/W) • Prepare objects/work for scanning • Preview • use Marquee Tool to select any detail (instead of the whole plate…)
Make tonal adjustments to get as good colour balance you think possible: contrast, brightness and colour balance can happen here. Contrast is the most important: an image with high contrast will contain less information than one with lower contrast
Set File size: 300 dpi13” x 19” print size • Put a grey card or my colour checker on the edge to see how useful it can be!
