  1. Contrast • Make like items the same, make different items VERY different. Use different colors, sizes and fonts. Make Big items BIG, little items little.

  2. Repetition • Carry a similar theme throughout your document.

  3. Alignment • Line up items in your document. • Center, Left, Right. • Left is traditional • Right is funky. • Centered is formal.

  4. Proximity • Keep like items together and everything else away. • Notice the difference between this definition and the ladybugs? Because they don’t go together, they are not close. • Keep your titles and stories together, don’t leave a blank line between!

  5. Font Rules • You can use two fonts in your document. • One will be serif (with feet/tail-Times NR). • One will be san serif (without feet/tail-Arial).
