The Recommended Plan • English 4.0 • Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, SBOE Approved Course 4.0 • Biology, IPC (Physics),Chemistry, SBOE Approved Crse. 4.0 • World Geography, World History, US History, Economics & Government 4.0 • Health 0.5 • PE or Waiver classes 1.0 • Communications Applications 0.5 • Technology Applications 1.0 • Fine Arts 1.0 • Foreign Language 2.0 • Plus state electives to equal 26 credits 4.0 The DAP requires 3 years of foreign language and FOUR advanced measures such as college dual credit and AP tests.

  4. Earning College Credit in High School • Dual credit courses at Brookhaven • Dual credit courses at Creekview • AP testing

  5. Testing for College Entrance Exams (SAT or ACT) Fee waivers available for lower income students. More Tests • Subject Tests (SAT II) Only at very select colleges • THEA Placement Test Texas public colleges only!

  6. Be Exempt from THEA • High score on TAKS test or • Strong scores on SAT or ACT or • Pass Accuplacer test at Brookhaven for dual credit courses Contact your college!

  9. HOW TO APPLY TO COLLEGE • Submit SAT or ACT Test scores • Submit application • Submit Transcript - Records Office The Student may also need • Processing fee ? • Include a personal essay? • Include letters of recommendation ? Allow 2 weeks for a recommendation letter to be written.

The government will decide on your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). 3. No matter what college selected, family contribution remains about the same.
