  1. Geology Final Project The Geology of a National Park Ms. Olson

  2. Objectives • To research and analyze information on the Geologic History of a National Park. • To learn to work with a group to complete a task. • To present your information in the form of a power point presentation.

  4. Geology Graphic Requirements • Map showing location of the Park • Stratigraphic Section • Geologic Map • Geologic Cross-section You need to be able to explain these graphics they aren’t just something you show and move on.

  5. Geologic History • Talk about the different geologic processes that shaped your park in the order that they occurred (oldest first). • Give a reference as to how long processes have been at work (use the geologic time scale). • Which processes are still occurring today? • Cover the Plate Tectonic Setting and how it affected the history where appropriate.

  6. Group Responsibility Produce a power point presentation on the geology and geologic history of a National Park (minimum of 15 information slides)

  7. Individual Responsibility Produce a minimum of 5 slides (Do 1/3 of the work) Present your portion to the class.

  8. Minimum Technology Requirements • Title Slide (Not part of the 15) • Uniform Look • Author of each slide at the bottom of the slide • Bibliographic Slide (Not part of the 15) • Imported graphics in each section (pictures, clipart, etc….) • Use at least one different slide transition in each section

  9. Minimum Technology Requirements (continued) • Use at least one change in font style and color • Make Sure font size and color are readable. • Don’t crowd your slides • Have at least one change of text transition (how the words show up on the slide). Font Requirements

  10. What not to do. • Don’t detract from your presentation by overdoing the technology. • Music/Sounds are good but make sure it is appropriate. • Avoid cutesy clipart

  11. Grading You are graded in three areas • Use of Technology • The Content • Oral Presentation See Rubrics Sheet
