  8. George Brinton McClellan • Major General • Commander of the Union Army before Grant • Could not follow orders, so he was dismissed from service

  9. Robert Gould Shaw • Colonel • Led the all-black 54th Regiment • From Boston, MA

  10. William T. Sherman • General • Famous for many battles, including the capture of Atlanta and Charleston
