Vision for Local CSCs • A citywide network of 6 Primary CSCs (1.5 mile radius – 91.3% population) • High-quality, accessible building providing customers with a range of services and information “under one roof” • A seamless generic approach to the delivery of a wide range of Council services • Access to other public services provided by external agencies and voluntary organisations

  3. Primary CSCs: Civic Centre East End Outer West Kenton Gosforth West End Areas/Wards served: Citywide/Inner East Outer and Inner East Outer West North Central (Kenton, Blakelaw, Fawdon) Gosforth and North Newcastle Inner West Citywide CSC Locations

What is LIFT? • Department of Health initiative from NHS Plan (2001) • New form of partnership between public & private sectors • Establishing local structures to deliver investment in community-based facilities for health and social care • Kenton is one of four “Phase 1” sites (Walker, Brunton Park, Shiremoor)

  5. LIFT Co • a local joint venture company between: • Local Primary Care Trusts and Local Authorities • A selected private sector partner (Robertson Capital Projects) • A national joint venture company (Partnerships for Health)

Customer Service Centres • Provide a seamless and consistent approach to the delivery of a wide range of public services from an accessible welcoming environment • Generic customer service officers are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to respond to a wide range of enquiries • Aim to deal with requests for services at first point of contact • Provide communities with opportunities to access services and information electronically via the Internet, information kiosk and video conferencing

  12. Next Steps • Setting up Kenton Community Focus Group • Raising awareness about what a Customer Service Centre is • Involving local people with the development of the Centre • Keeping residents informed via newsletters and Area/Ward Committees
