  3. Project Summary • Propose the reengineering of the online application that manages CIS alumni • Anticipated completion date 4/15/2009 • Divided into five phases with deliverables at the end of each phase

  4. Phases of Project • Scope Definition • Estimation • Project Plan • Risk Analysis • Project Technical & Cost Proposal

  5. Project Status • Established Yahoo Groups for online collaboration and document management • Analyzed current application • Divided system matrix into major site components then recombined to provide a holistic view of system. • Completed Phase 1 and associated deliverables

  6. Phase A: Scope Definition • Quick Requirements analysis • assess necessary functions • interfaces • strategy for solving • Constraints • Possible/desirable features • System Summary Specification matrix

  7. System Summary • System consists of 3 main pages • Alumni Home Page • CIS 40th Anniversary view • Administrative View • System written in html with backend shell scripts • Forms information seem to be emailed rather than stored in a database

  8. System Constraints • Manual Updates - pages are updated once shell scripts are ran via CLI • Use of email to store data rather than relational database • A number of forms need to be downloaded, printed and then submitted

  9. Desirable Features • Authentication and authorization for admin site. Allow user to login and have various types of access. • Implement control panel so authorized admin can approve or deny content such as “shout outs”. • Implement relational database to store site data and content
