Regional Receptions & Send-Offs • Formal Drexel specific events away from campus in targeted recruitment areas • Regional Receptions involve prospective and accepted students • At Regional Receptions alumni provide a great testimonial from a local source about the Drexel experience • Send-offs are our summer celebration for newly enrolled students as they prepare to begin at Drexel in the fall! • Alumni may host or attend these events and help celebrate this exciting time in these students lives!

  24. College Fairs • Represent Drexel at local high schools! • College fair tips: • Plan extra time to arrive and set-up • Dress appropriately (Usually business casual, Blue and Gold always looks good) • Re-read your fact sheets and make sure you have all of your materials • Stay behind your table • Set the student up to follow-up! • Inquiry Cards are the best way to keep in touch!

(Full details at www.drexel.edu/finanicalaid)

  27. 10 Most Frequently Requested Facts and Figures: Average Class Size is 18 Student to Faculty Ratio: 10: 1 We currently have approximately 11,000 undergraduate students Students offered permanent positions by former co-op employers: 55% Average Co-op Salary: $15,912 Drexel offers special advising tracks for students interested in medical, healthcare, and law graduate programs.

  28. Your Questions: George_Linker: How does Drexel enforce the requirement for students to withdraw from other schools, and what happens if they don't? An early decision application is considered a legal agreement. While we expect any student that applies early decision to be excited and happy to be accepted to Drexel, if a reason comes up that causes them to change their mind we do have an appeals process to release them from the agreement. If a student seems nervous about early decision, all programs will have open spaces through their non-binding regular decision as well. Linda Dennis: Are students automatically guaranteed a scholarship if their alumni form is received on time - endorsed by an alumni? At this time we will be honoring all fully completed alumni endorsements received by the deadline. Please remember a complete form now includes at least 1 paragraph explaining a little bit more your connection with the student, and how they will fit in at Drexel. Jonathan Liss: How do you handle inquiries from athletes who are interested in Drexel sports programs? Student athletes are encouraged to register with athletics through their “Prospective Student-Athlete” form found on www.drexeldragons.com (bottom left column). They can also contact the admissions office for the individual coaches contact information.

  29. Your Questions: George_Linker: Please talk about going to high schools. Is there a powerpoint presentation available? High school visits are being handled on a case by case basis as opportunities arise. This is so that any sent materials or presentations can be catered specifically to the group at hand. To discuss possible visits please email alumniamb@drexel.edu. Linda Dennis: How do you get the materials for a college fair? I am representing Drexel at a college fair in October. Who shall I contact? Typically College fairs are scheduled through us here in the admissions office. College fair materials are then mailed to your preferred address (typically home) 1-2 weeks before a scheduled college fair. If you have independently been in touch with a school, be sure to email alumniamb@drexel.edu to make sure we are aware of the fair and able to get you materials on time! rich_welsh: I'm attending a fair with students who might be interested in performing arts, what is available? The performing arts make up a great portion of our student life activities here at Drexel. We do also have both a major and minor in dance as well as minors in theatre and performance. In terms of resources for more information, you can always direct students to www.drexel.edu/performingarts. Also the performing arts departments’ annual brochure has been added to the alumni ambassador web page for you to download! Just visit: http://drexel.edu/alumni/ambassadors_training.asp.

  30. Your Questions: Jeffrey_Lisinicchia: good idea to write notes on the inquiry card...like if they play a high school sport, or have a relative who graduated from Drexel, etc. This wasn’t so much a question, but it was a really great suggestion! If you ever have a student who has specific interest or further questions you can mark it on their completed inquiry card and we will follow-up when we receive it here in the admissions office. Karen_Gauby: If we wanted a tour of the new athletic center, what is the cost of entrance for alums? We get questions about it, also. The athletics and recreation staff have put together a number of alumni packages and they are online at http://www.drexel.edu/RecCenter/memberships_alumni_memberships.html. There are special deals available for young alumni, alumni couples, and alumni families interested in joining. The base cost is $50 a month or $400 for the full year. Additionally, now that the new Recreation Center is fully open, they are more than happy to accommodate tours of the facility during their regular hours of operation. You can walk-in or call 215-571-3777 to schedule a tour in advance. Peter_Nelson: Are we ever going to get one of those display boards that one can stand up on a table? I have made my own. Travel boards are a valuable asset, especially at the busier fairs. Unfortunately, travel boards are also costly and difficult to ship without damaging. We are currently evaluating the costs and benefits of some different styles to see what we can make work. I will send more updates as we have them, in the meantime we will have to keeping doing the best we can with the resources we have.

  31. Your Questions: Lawrence_Lehmann: is CoMad the only school with formal early decision?? That is correct. The Westphal College of Media Arts and Design is the only college using the Early Decision/Regular Decision model (Discussed in more detail in the useful documents letter and on the alumni ambassador webpage at http://drexel.edu/alumni/ambassadors_training.asp). All other programs are using rolling admissions. Jeffrey_Lisinicchia: Chris: can you help us explain what "rolling admissions" means? Rolling admissions is the process where when an individual student’s application is complete the application is put in for review. Thus, while the formal deadline is March 1, if a student submits all of their materials earlier they will usually receive their admissions decision within 4-6 weeks. These are non-binding admissions decisions. Jeffrey_Lisinicchia: Chris: I noticed there were no brochures about the accelerated degree programs in my materials box this year? Good observation, because the accelerated degree information changes from year to year and the information is available online, we have moved away from the perpetual reprinting associated with the document. We do still have a fact sheet available for reference and we have made it available for download off of the alumni ambassador web page at http://drexel.edu/alumni/ambassadors_training.asp. Please download it and keep a copy for yourself! You can share any of this information with students if they have questions.

  32. Your Questions: Lawrence_Lehmann: Do you have average coop salary data by college IE business, engineering, CoMAD, Arts and Science, etc?? This information is located in the co-op brochure typically include in college fair materials. For your reference here the breakdown is: -Arts & Sciences…$14,273 -Biomedical Engineering…$16,415 -Business…$15,231 -Education…$11,711 -Engineering…$17,213 -Information Science and Technology…$17,460 -Media Arts & Desging…$12,417 -Nursing & Health Professions…$13,971 -Professional Studies…$15,032 Ken Lichtenstein: do you know what the co-op annualized salary is? According to the Steinbright Career Development Center, the average 6 month co-op salary is $15,912 dollars. To annualize this figure we would just need to double it and come to the equivalent of $31,824.

  33. Your Questions: Fred Smith: For future, could you add tuition, room & Board on future fact sheets? Similar to the Accelerated degree fact sheet, the decision has been made to try and reduce the constant flow of reprinting with the changing figures. The information is readily available to students online. We have also added the tuition and fees reference sheet to the alumni ambassador web page at http://drexel.edu/alumni/ambassadors_training.asp. Please do make sure and have a copy for your records! Included on that sheet is also information about scholarships and financial aid. Last year the average aid package for a student came in at $22,000. rich_welsh: I didn't sign up in advance. how to get the material you are sending out? If you are planning on visiting a school or college fair and have not been in touch with the admissions office be sure to email alumniamb@drexel.edu to make sure we have record of your participation and are able to get materials to you in a timely manner. Cash Sutton III 3:There was an error for the find an alum Thank you for pointing this out Cash! There was a mistake in the link when making the powerpoint presentation.
