  3. About Ashurst Ashurst is a leading international law firm advising corporate and financial institutions Offices in Australia, Asia, North America, Europe and Africa. Clients include 75% of the top 100 ASX companies

  4. Purpose of AWEP • To increase the exposure of UQ Law students to an international law firm • To provide UQ Law students with an unparalleled legal work experience opportunity

  5. About AWEP • 40 hours unpaid work experience • Undertaken casually over September and October • Eligibility: • Students that are not in their first year, penultimate year or final year are eligible to apply for this program

  6. About AWEP • You will attend an induction session at Ashurst prior to the beginning of your work experience • The exact format of the 40 hours are determined by yourself and Ashurst

  7. How to apply • Applications opened 25 May and need to be emailed to workexperience@uqls.com • Applications need to include: • Resume; • Cover letter; • Academic Transcript; and • Application form (available on the UQLS website) • APPLICATIONS ARE DUE FRIDAY 6 JULY

Selection and Placement Process • The UQLS Careers Team manage this process under the supervision and on the advice of Ashurst • Keep in mind that this program was designed for • students in the earlier years of their degree who don’t yet have any work experience under their belt; and • UQ students who have an interest in commercial law, and want to experience the atmosphere of a large law firm prior to clerkships • Ashurst may request to interview you prior to your placement being confirmed

  9. Important Dates • Friday 25 May: applications opened • See the UQLS website • Friday 6 July: applications close • Late July/early August: interviews
