  2. Qualifying to be a Director Must be a full-time, fee-paying student Must be at least 18 years of age Must be Bondable (aka. Pass a background check) Cumulative grade point average of at least 2.25 Be available for a full 12 month term (May 1st– April 30th) Attend the Board Orientation session Have never been a member of the Algonquin Students Association Board of Directors Selection Committee Have not previously served three terms on the Algonquin Students Association Board of Directors

  3. Job Descriptions

  4. What does a director do? Establish a link between activity fee paying students and the Students Association Work with students on all three campuses Participate in campus and residence orientations Participate in student forums Influence policy direction through participation on college committees Advocate for the Program council Process and Class Representative system

  5. What does the Vice-President do? Performs all duties of a director Maintains and protects all documents belonging to the Corporation Coordinates student feedback Assumes the role of the President in his/her absence

  6. What does the President do? Performs all duties of a director Is the voice of the board and figurehead of the Corporation Makes decisions based on topics covered by Board policies on Governance Process and Board-CEO Relationship Ensures Board members have the information they require to perform their jobs

  7. Reimbursement and Remuneration

Directors’ Reimbursement and Remuneration Directors receive a monthly honorarium of $560 provided they work a minimum of 40 hours In cases of extenuating circumstances due to health or academic requirements, a director will receive an honorarium of $280 per month provided they work a minimum of 20 hours

  9. Vice-President’s Reimbursement and Remuneration The Vice-President receives a monthly honorarium of $700 provided they work a minimum of 50 hours In cases of extenuating circumstances due to health or academic requirements, the Vice-President will receive an honorarium of $350 per month provided they work a minimum of 25 hours per month

President’s Reimbursement and Remuneration The President will receive a monthly honorarium of $800 from September to April provided they work a minimum of 58 hours per month The President will work full time at a rate of $14 an hour from May 1st to August 31st for a minimum of 480 hours to a maximum of 640 hours during this period (max. 44 hours per week) In cases of extenuating circumstances due to health or academic requirements, the President will receive an honorarium of $400 per month from September to April provided they work a minimum of 29 hours per month

Directors’ Academic/ Performance Incentive • An academic/ performance incentive of $1000 per semester they are enrolled in full time classes provided: • They work a minimum of 40 hours per month • They work an average of 45 authorized hours per month • They have performed all requirements of listed in their job description • A Director will receive an academic/ performance incentive of $500 per semester they are enrolled in full time classes provided: • They work an average of 25 hours per month • They have performed all requirements of the Directors job description

Vice-President’s Academic/ Performance Incentive • An academic/ performance incentive of $1000 per semester they are enrolled in full time classes provided: • They work a minimum of 50 hours per month • They work an average of 55 authorized hours per month • They have performed all requirements of listed in their job description • The Vice-President will receive an academic/ performance incentive of $500 per semester they are enrolled in full time classes provided: • They work an average of 30 hours per month • They have performed all requirements of the Directors job description

President’s Academic/ Performance Incentive • An academic/ performance incentive of $1000 per semester they are enrolled in full time classes provided: • They work a minimum of 58 hours per month • They work an average of 63 authorized hours per month • They have performed all requirements of listed in their job description • The President will receive an academic/ performance incentive of $500 per semester they are enrolled in full time classes provided: • They work an average of 34 hours per month • They have performed all requirements of the Directors job description

  15. Added Board Incentives The President, Vice President, and all Directors will be… Issued a pass to the Algonquin Fitness Zone Entitled to reimbursement of travel, food and other board-related expenses incurred during Board-approved business Private workspace Work phone

  16. How to become a Director

Nomination Process • Nomination packages will be available the first day of the winter semester until 14 days later at noon • Applications must include: • Nomination form signed by 50 members of the Corporation • Resume • Most recent transcript • Maximum 1 page cover letter answering the question in the nomination package

  18. Elections Process for Vice-President and President The President and Vice-President may campaign for their elected positions after approval of their nomination Each approved candidate is eligible for funding in the amount of $500 for election expenditures
