Is Only One Church Right?. Is there such a thing as right or wrong ?. God gives us His standard ! Rom. 3:4 > “let God be true but every man a liar …” Psa. 19:7 > “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.” John 17:17 > “Your word is truth”.

  2. Is there such a thing as right or wrong? • God gives us His standard! • Rom. 3:4 > “let God be true but every man a liar …” • Psa. 19:7 > “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.” • John 17:17 > “Your word is truth”

  3. Is there right or wrong in religion? • “to the glory of God” • Lev. 10:3 – “I must be glorified” • Lev. 10:1 – “which he had not commanded.”

Is there right or wrong in religion? • Religious teachers can be false. • Ezek 22:26 > Her priests have violated My law and profaned My holy things; they have not distinguished between the holy and unholy, nor have they made known the difference between the unclean and the clean; and they have hidden their eyes from My Sabbaths, so that I am profaned among them.

  5. Is there right or wrong in religion? • Jesus warned • Matt 7:15 > Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. • Matt 15:9 > And in vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.

Is there right or wrong in religion? • Jesus said • Matt 15:12-14 > Then His disciples came and said to Him, "Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?" 13 But He answered and said, "Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. 14 Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.“

  7. Is there right or wrong in religion? • If a person is teaching something other than what Jesus instructed can he still be right?

  8. Has God designated any exclusives in religion? • Eph 4:4-6 > There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; 5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6 one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. • One = one and only one!

Has God designated any exclusives in religion? • Acts 19:26 > Moreover you see and hear that not only at Ephesus, but throughout almost all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are not gods which are made with hands. • One and only one God! • The Ephesians were tolerant of many gods, but intolerant of anyone who said that was only one.

  10. Has God designated any exclusives in religion? • One • God • Body • Body = church; Eph. 1:22,23 • If one God means only one God, then one body means only one body or only one church.

  11. What was the ONE church? • One Jesus promised • Matt 16:18 > And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. • Is only the church Jesus built right?

What was the ONE church? • Established on the day of Pentecost • Acts 2:37,38 • Acts 2:41 > Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. • Acts 2:47 > praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

  13. What was the ONE church? • Included all who were saved. • The Lord added the saved. • Not a denomination (part) of the whole. • One true church to which all who were saved were added. • The one body of Ephesians 4.

  14. Is This the Church Jesus Built? How can this church be identified? • Matt. 16:18; Dan. 2:44 - “forever” • It must still exist today! • It has: • Jesus as its head and only Lord • The scriptures as its only faith • Entered into by one baptism • Still includes all the saved • It is not one of many

How can this church be identified? • It is called: • body of Christ – Col. 1:18 • church of Christ – Mt. 16:18; Rm. 16:16 • house of God – 1 Tim. 3:15 • church of God – Gal. 1:13 • 1 Cor. 1:10 – “speak the same thing” • 1 Cor. 4:17 – “teach everywhere in every church” Description of ONE group of people

  16. How can this church be identified? • Local Church (Congregations) • Work – evangelism, edification, benevolence among the saints • Organization – elders, deacons, saints • Worship – teaching, Lord’s supper, prayer, giving, singing • Teaching - scripture • Love and zeal – one accord

  17. Our Responsibility • Come to Christ as He has directed! • Jn. 8:24; Mk. 16:16; Eph. 4:5; • He will add you to His church; Acts 2:47 • Remain in fellowship with his people (church). Eph. 4:5 – “one faith”

  18. Jesus built ONE church! Only ONE church is right! Only the church that Jesus built is Right! One Church?
