  9. Animal, Plants, &Natural Resources Tanzania has many interesting animals, like the Leatherback turtle, Pemba flying foxes, and the black rhino. The leatherback turtle is the largest living turtle. The largest leatherback turtle weighed 2,019 pounds! In addition, adults can eat a whole jellyfish! All in all, the leatherback turtle is a huge turtle. However, there are other interesting animals in Tanzania like Pemba flying foxes. Pemba flying foxes are actually large fruit bats. They have a fox-like face, orange underparts, black ears, nose, and wings. They are usually born between August and September. They weigh about .9-1.4 pounds, but the black rhino can weigh between 800-1,400 kg. The black rhino’s are critically endangered. They’ve been hunted mostly for their horns.
