Twitter. What is Twitter?. Twitter is another Social Media site that allows you to interact with others. What makes Twitter different than the rest of the sites is the maximum number of characters you can use, so each “tweet” has to be short and to the point.

  2. What is Twitter? • Twitter is another Social Media site that allows you to interact with others. • What makes Twitter different than the rest of the sites is the maximum number of characters you can use, so each “tweet” has to be short and to the point. • Much less of a personal interaction site than Facebook.

  3. Twitter Background • Make sure you update all of your information in Twitter, along with uploading a good background. • Beachbody has created a background banner for you. • Go to your Coach Office, “Sales & Marketing,” “Web Tools,” and under “Social Media Skins” you will see the backgrounds you can download.

  4. Updating Your Status • It’s important that you Tweet every hour or so. • One thing I DON’T RECOMMEND is actually updating it every hour, but rather use a site like Hootsuite or Tweetdeck, where you can schedule your posts ahead of time. • I schedule my posts for the entire day every morning.

  5. #Hashtags • A hashtag, or #, is something people put in front of an important word or phrase, allowing it to be categorized and easily searched for. • i.e. #P90X, #Insanity, #ILoveFridays • Don’t use more than 2 hashtags per Tweet, and keep them relevant to the topic. • Not every post should have a hashtag either.

Using Twitter to Build Relationships • Twitter is a GREAT tool to use if you’re looking to build relationships with people, but it can be time consuming. • To build a relationship with someone, you have to find someone to build a relationship with, and that’s where #hashtag search comes in. • I don’t recommend using the regular Twitter page to search, but rather Hootsuite. • After you upload your Twitter account in Hootsuite, go to the Twitter tab, click “Add Stream,” select “Keyword,” and that’s where you can enter the keyword that you want to search for. • Once you add the stream with the keyword, the stream will show you everyone who has used that term or phrase in their Tweets. • Sample fitness keywords on next slide.

Think Outside the Box • The keywords listed on the previous slide are all very popular keywords, and ones that are targeted by various spammers. • Don’t be an annoying spammer! • Along with the keywords I mentioned, think outside the box and discover keywords people use that have to do with health and fitness that might not be targeted so much by others.

  9. Marketing Results • Occasionally you are going to want to post a www.bitly.com link to your YouTube video and post your transformation photos. • Each time you do so, make sure you use the #hashtags associated with the program and/or supplements that you used. • Whenever any of your customers and/or coaches get results, make sure you post them as well. • Remember, this is a results driven business.

  10. Contacting People • This is very important. DO NOT just send people a link asking them to make you their coach. • It’s all about building relationships, and that means taking it one step at a time. • For example, after you see someone post about going to the #gym, you can contact them and say something like, “I saw that you’ve been going to the gym. What workout are you doing?” • Engage in conversation, build trust, and be there to help the person, not sell a product. • Be sure to eventually show them your “before” and “after” photos, which creates credibility. • Once you get to a comfortable point, then you can talk to them about making you their coach.

  11. Messaging • At first, before they are “Following” you, you will not be able to direct message them, and will have to mention them (@JoshSpencer28) in the response. • “Follow” them and hopefully they will “Follow” you back. • Once they “Follow” you, to message them, move your curser to the upper right hand corner of that person’s box where they Tweeted, and click on “Direct Message.”

  12. Connecting to Facebook • Mention to the person that it’s easier to talk over on Facebook (which it is), and give them the link to “Like” your page or have them send you a friend request. • Once they are following you on Facebook, they will learn more about you by reading your posts, giving you more credibility. • Also, occasionally give a status update with your Facebook link so your “followers” can “follow” you over there as well.
