  10. Unit Effectiveness Process (UEP) UEP: Goals • To prove that the program/service or any other mechanism of betterment has been effective. Assessment also helps to prove that campus decisions are based on evidence and not opinion (Outcome Evaluation). • To improve not only the campus and community at large, but also the very mechanism by which we made the campus improvements (Process Evaluation).

Goal – A broad statement that describes what is to be achieved to fulfill the program mission. Institutional Effectiveness – A continuous set of the processes of planning, assessment and review aimed at ongoing improvement (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, 2004).

  22. Unit Effectiveness Process: A Matter of Perspective Glossary (cont.) Objective – Statements of aims or desired ends whose achievement can be assessed to demonstrate progress toward or achievement of their goals. Outcome – The consequences or results of processes. Outcomes are specified or defined by means of outcome goals and objectives. Institutions and units exist to produce specific outcomes. Outcome Result - What happened? Was the Outcome Measure (performance target) accomplished?
