  10. Being economically independent allows freedom of oppression from your own family. After the death of my husband, I took over managing our farm. Now my siblings cannot belittle me becoz I managed to send my children to school without asking for their aid. My dignity and self-respect is intact. The difference between men and women having income is that men only cares of profiting from their livelihood while women always think carefully of how their profit contribute to the well-being of the entire household. It is important to women to look after themselves economically. They cannot depend on men alone. When my husband got sick, I needed to be very resourceful or our children might have died from hunger. I cannot afford to experience that again. Now my husband salutes me for surviving that trial. Islam does not promote idleness of women.
