  1. Crimea State Medical University named after S.I. Georgievsky Human normal anatomy department Ontogenetic peculiarities and regenerative potentials of brain vascular plexuses in case of xenogenic cerebrospinal fluid injection. Prepared by: I.H.Gasanova Scientific advisor: prof. V.S. Pykaluk, MD

  2. The Goal: is to study special morpho-functional characteristics of brain vascular plexuses in case of xenogenic cerebro-spinal fluid injection Research materials: vascular plexuses of certain age Wistar white rats Research methods: Organometric indicators Histological examination of vascular plexuses Histochemical examination of choroid plexuses Statistical data evaluation

  3. Table of experiment control 0.9% NaCl CSF experiment

  4. Ventricular system of the brain Lateral ventricles and third ventricle, frontal section

  5. Lateral brain ventricle vascular plexus, plexus choroideus ventriculi lateralis.Well vascularized choroid structure penetrates to the brain ventricle through vascular fissure. Anteriorly it gets to interventricular foramen, posteriorly it protracts to inferior horn. Figure Б.

  6. Vascular plexuses physiology: - vascular plexuses and cerebro-spinal fluid: CSF secretion theory CSF filtration theory CSF resorption theory CSF dialysis theory - vascular plexuses and brain-blood barrier : hemato-liquorbarrier hemato-cerebralbarrier liquoro-cerebral barrier Organometric evaluation of a brain 2 –brain mass –hemisphere length(1) –hemisphere width(2) –hemisphere heigth(3) 1 3

  7. Brain mass indicators Cephalization index indicators (p<0.05). (p<0.05). - Cephalization index:Е2/Р Е- brain mass, Р- body mass -percentage ratio of brain mass to body mass 0,9-1%(at adult rats)

  8. Organometric characteristics of brain hemispheres Brain hemisphereslength Brain hemisphereswidth (p<0.05).

  9. Brain vascular plexus microscopy Hematoxylin-eosin staining Schiff reaction staining to determine GAG type (acidic GAG in intercellular space and neutral GAG inside arteries)

  10. Conclusion: • The function of brain vascular plexuses is complicated a lot. This function also changes much during the life period or due to different functional statuses of organism. Therefore it’s hard to define the single common function for choroid plexuses. The most probable assumption is that it does the combinatorial function (combinatorial theory) • With the increase of age brain mass in rats increases also and rises 0,9-1% of brain mass in adult animals. Conversely, cephalisation index decreases step by step in an age and the presenile animals have a low level of it. Initially grows the brain length, later in adult rats starts to grow fast in adult. As a result maximum length is defined in adult rats and maximum width is in a presenile age. • Brain vascular plexus histological examination shows embrionic epithelium in plexuses of newborn and juvenile rats. With the increase of age also grows a number of cells and collagenous and elastinic fibers. Epithelium cells decrease in size in an presenile animals. • Brain choroid plexus histochemical examination shows acidic GAG in intercellular space and neutral GAG inside arteries.
