  2. Social networking services • A Social networking services : is online community used between people who share the same interests, so that they can meet online and share information and ideas.

Examples of Social networking services • Communicate with classmates (colassmates.com) and friends (facebook.com). • Communicate with people who share common interests or hoppy : like movies (fixter.com), books(shelfari.com), photos (flicker.com). • Communicate with people with the same job. • Communicate with others about an idea. ex : for parents to talk about birth, child-raising and parenting in general (gurgle.com)

How does Social networking services work? • The user must create a profile for himself/herself. • A user can become friend with another user on the service by sending a request. • Both users must agree that both want to be friends so that the request to be accepted. • There is usually setting that allows a user to choose who can see their profile and other information from the services.

  5. Impact of Social networking on society • Allow people to easily find information they need or locate people they are searching for.

  6. Concerns regarding social networking services • Privacy • Identity theft
