  2. Dinosaurs • In today’s lesson we will be researching dinosaurs. We will utilize the internet in our research, specifically www.enchantedlearning.com • We will be reading about different kinds of dinosaurs, exploring the website, reading for main idea and examples of cause and effect.

  3. Main Idea • First lets talk about main idea. • What is the main idea? • The main idea is the main reason the story was written. Or why did the author write the story or paper.

  4. Cause and Effect • What is a cause and effect? • A cause is WHY something happens. • An effect is WHAT happens. As you read be a detective. See if you can figure out why something happens and what happens. • What are some examples of cause and effect?

  5. Lets research dionsaurs! • Get out your Macbooks. • Open the internet and go to this website. • www.enchantedlearning.com

  6. Scroll down and click on the word dinosaurs on the left side. • Lets look at the T-Rex first! • Click on the underlined T-Rex to take to the next page.

  7. Main Idea • Can you find think of or find any cause and effects? T-Rex had long strong legs, allowed them to run fast. T-Rex had big sharp teeth, able to attack and eat meat. • Now that we have read and explored this page about T-Rex, • What is the main idea?

  8. Keep learning about dinosaurs • What else is a cause and effect for dinosaurs? • Click on the extinction link. • Can you find a cause and effect here?

  9. Match the causes with the effects • The other team scored. • He got an A on the test. • The crowd cheered. • He won the race. • It was about to rain. • The sky was very dark. • The goal was open. • Austin hit a homerun. • Connor studied hard. • John is fast.
