  2. Dinosaurs The word dinosaur means terrible lizard. Dino means terrible and saur means lizard. So “dinosaur” would mean “terrible lizard.”

  3. Types of Dinosaurs There are three types of dinosaurs which are: Herbivores (plant-eaters) Carnivores (meat-eaters) Omnivorous (meat and plant-eaters)

  4. The Periods There were four different periods that the dinosaurs lived in: The Mesozoic Era Period(255 million years ago) The Triassic Period(225-190 million years ago) The Cretaceous Period(140-65 million years ago) The Jurassic Period(65 million years ago)

  5. What their names mean • Spino/saurus - Spine/lizard • Tyranno/saurus - Tyrant/lizard • Veloci/raptor - Rapid/thief • Dryo/saurus - Oak/lizard • Draco/rex - Dragon/king • Eo/tyrannus - Dawn/tyrant • Kentro/saurus - Pointed/lizard • Tri/cera/tops - Three/horned/face • Kryp/tops - Covered/face • Lambe/saurus - Lambe’s/lizard

How The Dinosaurs became Extinct Some Paleontologists think different explanations about how the dinosaurs became extinct: • Some think that the Ice Age happen • Some think that a giant meteor crashed into he Earth and there was too much dust so the dinosaurs couldn’t live • Some think that the plants all died so all the herbivores died and when all of them died out the carnivores had nothing to eat and too staved to death
