  5. Research • Know what you are presenting beforehand • Get various perspectives and opinions • Reference a range of sources • Website • Books • Guides

  6. Organize Topics • Outline the important points • Introduction • Body • Conclusion • Write your speech or main topics out • Memorize the order

  7. Introduction • Open with a BANG! • Gain the attention of your audience • You can use • Humor • Quotes • Questions • Songs • Indicate your topic

  8. Body • Make your topic personable • Elaborate on the subject • Use examples • Encourage audience interaction • Stay well-focused

  9. Conclusion • Restate your subject • Summarize the main points • State the key message • End memorably

  10. Speaking Confidently • Everyone gets nervous • Prepare and practice • Visualize your success • Connect with your audience • Act confident

  11. Speaking Tips • Speak slowly • Use markers in your speech • Look right, center, and left • Utilize the stage • Consider hand gestures • SMILE :)

  12. Things to Avoid • Verbal Tics/Filler Words (ex. – um, very, etc.) • Swaying or stepping back and forth • Overusing hand gestures • Touching face or hair • Leaning
