  2. Career Development Services System • Starts in the Admissions process and ends with Job Placement. • Outlines the 5 phases the Job Corps students experience and how the services will be delivered by staff. • Mandated by the US Department of Labor and all centers must have a CDSS Plan.

  3. CDSS Phases Outreach & Admissions CAREER Career Preparation Career Development Career Transition

CDSS is Job Corps!! • Ensures the continuity of services. • Requires team work between all departments. • There are specialists for each area: i.e. Career Preparation Counselors, Career Development Counselors, Career Transition Specialists, etc. • Servicing students is EVERYONE’S Business- placement, accountability, employability etc.

  5. Staff Tool Kit • Job Corps Community Web Site- JC Web • Center’s CDSS Plan • Job Corps Resource Library- JCRL • Center Information System- CIS • Policy and Requirements Handbook- PRH • Standard Operating Procedures- SOPs When in doubt… these documents will help you.

  6. Student Characteristics and Profile • Need for Training • Minor legal issues as a juvenile or adult • Foster Youth, DPSS referral • Truancy or credit issues • Parent’s Influence/Choice for enrollment • Re-enrollment • Single mothers- will need secure child care & housing, etc.

  7. More Characteristics • In OA, CPP/Counseling, Academics and Wellness we will screen for services they will need before coming on-center • They are use to people letting them down--- It is important to keep promises!! • Can smell a Sincere Staff Member from a mile away

  8. CIS- Student Profile Report • Name, address, age, phone number, date of birth • Alternate Contacts, enrollment date, attendance, assigned Counselor, course history and accomplishments To access CIS enrollment menu, open reports tab, select ETA 640 Student Profile Report
