The Comanche tribe began in Wyoming and migrated to the northern Texas panhandle. They were skilled nomads, relying primarily on buffalo hunting for sustenance and showcasing advanced tool usage such as bows, arrows, and shields. Organized into 13 bands, each led by a chief, they exhibited a rich culture, living in tipis made from buffalo hides. Although they fiercely defended their territory against settlers, their way of life declined following these conflicts. Today, many Comanche descendants live modern lives while preserving their historical narratives.

Origination • The Comanches started off in Wyoming but they made their way to the northern panhandle of Texas using horses.
Food • The Comanche’s main source of food, like many other tribes, was the buffalo. • They did little farming.
Skills • They were VERY skilled in hunting, fighting, and riding horses.
Tools • The Commanches were very advanced in ways of tools; they used sheilds, lances, bows and arrows, and horses to battle and hunt with.
About • The Comancheswere nomads, they traveled from place to place looking for food and other resources. They were also war hungry, they would take land, resources, and even people from anyone. They would also fight anyone. Hence the nickname “Warriors of the plains.”
About Pt.2 • They traveled in 13 bands, each band was led by a chief, the chief had little power though.
Culture • The Comanches lived in Tipiscovered in buffalo hide. • Men had long hair women had short hair. • Believed that if you don’t follow the rules, you get kicked out • Adult males “voted”
Cool facts • Each of the 13 bands of the Commanches had its own name. And those names translate(d) to some kind of word or words in the Commanche language. • Take Penatekas for example, that bands name translates to honey eater.
Cool facts 2 • Many Comanches are still alive today, while not any where like their ancestors, they are still alive today, living in houses, driving cars and telling tales of the Comanches that once were.
End of an era • The Comanches ways eventually died off when German and American settlers came into there territory; When the settlers tried to take the land, the Commanches fought back, they failed.
