  2. Color Cards Use this time to collect the appropriate grade level cards. Please adhere to the 1st day procedures.

  3. About Me Directions: Once you have completed your color coded card, obtain the About Me sheet. Please fill this sheet out. Be Prepared to share with your classmates. *Have students share with peers, then have peers share what they learned about another student.

  4. Lee High School Student Handbook Directions: Students will pick 1 bold topic in the handbook. Students create a picture that illustrates that specific section of the Student Handbook. Example: *Have students gallery walk the class looking at other students drawing or have students Present their drawing in a group or to the class.

  5. Icebreaker of your choice • Use this time to present do an icebreaker that you select. The compass activity is an easy activity.

  6. Digital Citizenship The following is a selections of videos and discussion questions for you and your students. Cold call on students and have a rich discussion about being digital citizens in the Lee community.

Digital Citizenship: Cyberbullying Video Link: http://tinyurl.com/kmmsrwj Discussion Scenerio 1: • Two female sixth graders, Katie and Sarah, are exchanging malicious instant messages back and forth because of a misunderstanding involving a boy named Jacob. The statements escalate in viciousness from trivial name-calling to very vicious and inflammatory statements, including death threats. • Should the police be contacted? Are both girls wrong? What should the kids do in this instance? What would you do as a parent if you discovered this problem? What might a school counselor do?

  8. Digital Citizenship: Cyberbullying Cont. Discussion Scenerio 2: • James is frustrated and saddened by the comments his high school peers are making about his sexuality. Furthermore, it appears a group of male students are creating fake e-mail accounts at Yahoo.com and are sending love notes to other male students as if they came from James—who is mortified at the thought of what is happening. • If you were a guidance school counselor or administrator within the school, what would you do if James approached you with the problem? What about if you were James’s mom or dad? What can James do to deal with the embarrassment? What would be some incorrect and unacceptable ways that James might try to deal with this problem?

Digital Citizenship Poster • You will be making posters in groups to demonstrate what you have learned about digital citizenship. • The audience for your poster will be students who missed the first day of school. • Choose from the following topics • Digital Etiquette – Explain appropriate online behavior and language • Digital Law – Explain issues such as plagiarism, illegal downloading, and identity theft • Digital Health – Explain overuse of the internet… eye strain, headaches, etc. • Digital Security – Explain how to be safe online… passwords, not sharing personal information • Choose your own topic such as cyberbullying • Each poster should • Contain a minimum of 3 pieces of useful information • Include words and images • Be legible and colorful

Level 1 - Intervention: Using Computer to be Off Task Did not Bring Computer to class Computer not charged Leaving Computer Unattended Computer Not in Case Defacing device or case- Case by case Other miscellaneous behavior A continued pattern of Level 1 behavior issues will be escalated to the Grade Level Administrator.

Level 2 - Escalation: Teacher Action- remand student directly to Grade Level Administrator Using Proxy sites to get around the filter Cheating using technology Unauthorized programs installed or used on computers Sharing credentials or login access Accessing Pornography or any content sexual in nature Intentional Damage to Device or Case Accessing Violent Websites and Movies Hacking into school databases or using hacking software Obtaining personal information of staff and/or students with intent to do harm Cyberbullying- Using the technology to be unkind or cruel Home movies with Inappropriate content such as pornography, drug use, and gang references Inappropriate Pictures, particularly of other underage students

  19. Lee High School Song Directions: You are going to listen to 2 beats, as a class you will decide on the beat we will use as a class. We will break up into groups. As a group, you will create a school song. • Your song must include the following: • You must say the word “Lee” at least 3 times. • The school colors must be said somewhere in the song: black & gold. • The mascot “Generals” must be in the song. • Must have a hook, chorus, or chant with repetition. • Must promote school spirit • Must include a name of both: a sport and a club at Lee.   20. Dear Article Teacher Directions • Have students read the article aloud, in groups, or own their own. On the back of the article have the students answer the short responses on the next page. Have students share responses in groups or with the class.

  22. How to Calculate GPA • Directions: Using the example report card you have been given, Calculate the GPA of that student with the help your teacher. • Teacher- See Calculating GPA handout for steps. Walk students through calculations. They may write on the report card.

  23. Calculating Grade Point Average (GPA) • 1. Assign grade points by using the table below (use the Avg column) • 2. Find the total number of grade points by adding • 3. Finally to find the GPA, divide the total number of grade points by the number of courses

  24. How to Read My Transcript • 10th-12th Grade Only • Directions: Use handouts to complete this activity. • *Teacher refer to the teacher handout to help students with their transcripts.
