Exploring Health Care Careers: Creating a Pathway Bulletin Board

  1. Objectives • Select and research your chosen health career and create a bulletin board. Place emphasis on: • The working environment. • Equipment used in the job. • Possible uniform/clothing used in the job. • Other items that may be used to illustrate a career option.

  2. Give thought to the pathway • Remember the 5 career pathways in health care employment. Which is yours? • Therapeutic Services • Diagnostic Services • Health Informatics • Support Services • Biotechnology Research and Development

  3. Assignment • Identify a career that lies your health care pathway (front side) • Determine how it corresponds with the 11 health care standards (back side)

  4. FIRST! Before constructing your bulletin board, make sure that you: Compile all of data and information first! Give thought to how you want it to look on the board. (Colors, theme, supporting materials….etc) Before attaching it to the board place it on the board to see if it looks like you want it!

  5. Your Bulletin board front side (if using construction paper) should include: • The career name (Nuclear Medicine, Dentist, Geneticist etc.) • The pathway that the career falls under. • The educational requirements for each of the careers. • The working environment (office, clinic, etc..) • Equipment used in the field. • Possible uniform/clothing used in the job. • Other items that may be used to illustrate a career option.

  6. Other items Salary potential How much ca$h? Benefits? Where in the country or worldis the demand for your profession. Career advancement opportunities in the field of choice.

  7. On the back(if using construction paper)of the bulletin board Write down the 11 standards and visualize yourself in the job that you want. Give an example of how each of these standards are practiced or used in your profession.
