5. About Her Marie Curie was born in Warsaw Poland on November 7, 1867. She was the first woman to go to the college the Sorbonne. She graduated first in her class. After she married she was the first person to win the Nobel Prize in 2 different subjects. Her only surviving child, Irene, continued her work when Marie Curie died in 1934 of leukemia. Irene also won a Nobel prize.

7. Facts about Twain He was born two weeks after Halley’s Comet flew by. His real name was Samuel Clements. He had a very good sense of humor. He died on the same day as Halley’s Comet appeared once again.

Not many people have heard of the great heroine , Edith Cavell, I guess because she didn’t play one of the biggest roles in history, but she was one of the elements.I’ll explain …she actually started out as a house keeper, but after taking care of her father she wanted to be a nurse. When the war started between Germany and the rest of the world, she started illegally nursing British soldiers and transferring them to Holland, to safety…finally caught and put to death. She was shy but, she made a great friend. Edith was also very fond of dogs, she had particularly befriended a dog she called Jack. A stray but her best friend as well. Do you know Edith better now?

He tried his chances at chisel and the hammer when he was 6 years old.At the age of 13 he became an apprentice to a famous artist. When he was older he was asked by Pope Julius to paint the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. He died on February 18,1564. He died while he was sleeping. He was the greatest artist who lived.

21. My name is Leonardo Da Vinci. I was born in a small Italian town of Vinci in April 14 1452. I kept the name of my town as my own last name.When I was little I drew pictures of many things. I was born when people all over Europe liked art. This time was called the Renaissance. I became famous for many other things than art. I was a sculptor,musician,architect, scientist, and a mathematician.I built bridges, beautiful churches, and even whole cities. I wrote my notes backwards so no one could read them also I wrote my notes backwards because I was left handed so it was easier to write. My most famous painting was the Mona Lisa and were ever you stand to look at her she looks back at you.I used nature and science to make my paintings look real. I lived to be 72 years old and I died in the arms of the king of France in 1524.

23. Amelia Earhart • Amelia, an airplane flyer, was a very famous person. She was famous for flying at different heights,speeds,and flying from different places to another. She was the first woman to make a transatlantic flight. She broke lots of records by flying from Hawaii to the north American mainland. 35. About Rachel Carson Rachel Carson was born May 27, 1907. She was the first woman scientist. She loved the ocean and nature. She was responsible for starting the nature movement and the clean up of the oceans. In 1957 Rachel Carson discovered that a chemical DDT used to kill bugs was deadly and was killing animals. She died of cancer in 1964. A service was held for her at the Washington Cathedral. Senators and congressmen were there to honor her as well as many people who just knew here through her books.
